Karl-Heinz Lambertz supports European policy initiative LUSATIA GLOW and receives delegation from the Serbski Sejm
In order to develop its international relations, a delegation of the Serbski Sejm visited the Parliament of the German-speaking Community of Belgium on Monday 7 February. The delegation, consisting of MPs Agnes Marie Wessela, Dr. Andreas Kluge, constitutional lawyer Harald Baumann-Hasske, and Doc. Dr. Božena Bednaříková representing the Czech Lusatia was received by Karl-Heinz Lambertz, President of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community of Belgium.
A return visit by Karl-Heinz Lambertz to the Serbski Sejm was agreed for the beginning of May.
Lambertz supports the Lusatia Glow initiative. For decades, he has played a leading role in shaping the development of East Belgium into a part of the country with extensive cultural policy competences for the German-speaking population. Today, the German-speaking Community of Belgium, with a similar size to the Sorbian/Wendish people, has a parliamentary budget of approximately 350 million euros, as well as its own educational institutions for pedagogical and social professions. The situation of the German-speaking Community of Belgium is today regarded throughout Europe as exemplary for the successful safeguarding of a regional culture in the interest of cross-border cooperation.
